Tom 'The Bird' Grant volleyball tournament starts today

The third annual Tom 'The Bird' Grant Pre-Invitational High School Volleyball Tournament is expected to get underway today at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium.

The tournament has nine boys' and eight girls' teams entered. They will play out of two pools each with the top performers in the recent tournaments taking the top seeded positions.

BSC crowns its volleyball champions

The Baptist Sports Council (BSC) staged its 2013 Co-Ed Volleyball Classic on Saturday at the D.W. Davis Gymnasium with Salem Union Baptist carting off the top prize.

In the final, which was played in a best-of-three sets format, Salem prevailed in straight sets, 25-21 and 25-23, over St. Paul's Baptist.
